"Why Me?"

We all wonder why certain things happen to us. When something amazing happens in our lives, we are overwhelmed and think "What did I do to deserve this?". When something terrible happens, we again wonder "What did I do to deserve this?".
When bad things happen, it's really easy for the thoughts of "Why me?" and "This person is terrible, I'm a way better person than him/her, so why didn't this happen to them instead of me?" to creep into our heads. We can't seem to comprehend that we are not all that and a bag of chips. We are constantly comparing ourselves to others and watching and waiting to see if they'll mess up. When they, as people inevitably do mess up, we can begin to let ourselves think that we're better than them. Then when something goes wrong in our lives, we wonder why it didn't happen to that person that messed up before us. It's a circle. That person that you watched mess up may have being waiting on someone else to mess up. Then when you mess up, there may be someone else watching.
I want to make it a point this year to never ask why things happen to me. Bad things will come, I will mess up, but I will try my best to always remember that God has a perfect plan. We are in the hands of our creator and savior. His plan for my life is far greater than I can imagine and He uses those moments that make me want to wonder "Why me?" to help me grow into who I will become. This year, I am making it a goal to never question that perfect plan, no matter how bad things seem to get.
